Toulouse. This main college is launching coaching on the vitality transition… Normal

The universities of Toulouse are gradually coming back. As on the Pol-Sabatier side. From Monday, September 5, 2022, the university specializing in science, health, sports, technology and engineering started a new course. You will tell us that it is classic and normal, but the training in question was established together with the global oil giant TotalEnergies, headed by Patrick Pouyanné.

Already trained with EDF since 2014

Such cooperation with a large industrial group is not the first for Paul-Sabatier. Since 2014, the Pente course (Physics of Energy and Energy) has been offered to students, specializing in electricity generation. Thanks to EDF support. In total, Paul-Sabatier University has five courses as part of the master’s degree dedicated to energy: TED (Fluid dynamics, energy, transfers), PLS (Plasma physics, plasma processes, materials, electric arc)Slope, Flowery (fluids for sustainable energy, a new training course has also started at the beginning of the academic year 2022) and therefore the latest to date Green Weatherfor energy resource management, energy efficiency, smart self-consumption in networks.

From the beginning of the 2022 academic year, Paul-Sabatier University has launched a new training course on the energy transition in collaboration with TotalEnergies.

“Total will bring its experience”

Science-based training is Paul-Sabatier’s main asset, but as mentioned, the TotalEnergies group will bring its expertise in other areas. Jean-Francois Georges, is jointly responsible for this new training and Master of Energy as a whole.

“The purpose of this training is to know how to manage the resources we have and how to take electricity into account. Thanks to its docents, academics and outstanding researchers, Total will provide students with expertise in law, economics, energy market regulations or even carbon tax, CO2 emissions and energy forecasts for consumption, the current state of national and international commitments after the Paris Agreements and COP 26 in Glasgow… These are important topics that we can do internally. I do not propose”.

Specialize in electrical distribution

As part of the Green Air course – of these Enedis With TotalEnergies, another key industrial partner – students will specialize in electricity distribution and the challenges of all networks and will be able to benefit from a “more complete offer”, says Jean-Francois Georges. “Since the creation of the Pente course in 2014, we have had a good integration rate for our students. Integration that reflects the energy mix of France very well since then. 55% of them manage to integrate into the nuclear sector15% work in renewable resources, and the rest choose other sectors and other tasks,” the researcher-teacher continues.

“Total is not only gasoline or fuel oil! »

Jean-Francois Georges defends the support of TotalEnergies despite regular anti-big group media campaigns and in a city marked by the AZF disaster (which we just mentioned on the 21st).e anniversary of the tragedy), in 2001, an explosion at a factory operated by Total’s subsidiary Grande Paroisse killed 31 people and injured 2,500.

“Total is not just promoting gasoline or fuel oil! The group invests in solar energy and many sectors related to the energy transition. They are also interested in hydrogen, in which students will have a 30-hour training module on the program. second year. Paul-Sabatier and The University of Toulouse is a player in building the hydrogen sector in Occitania.”

To apply for this two-year training, you must have a bac+3 diploma. There is the first promotion since the beginning of the 2022 academic year 18 students, that is, “the maximum number of students for classroom groups”, Jean-François Georgis defines.

Like students on a slope course where students are regularly called on to do field trips like the one at the EDF nuclear power plant. Golf (Tarn-et-Garonne)Green-Air students will be hosted at industrial sites such as On the site of Escalquens (Haute-Garonne), Southeast of Toulouse, TotalEnergies subsidiary Total Quadran operates a solar power plant equipped with trackers that track the sun’s orientation.
