10:00 – 10:45 : National Education Initiatives for English Language Learning: International Mobility
International mobility through mastering the English language has become a strong aspiration of students and teachers. Whether it is virtual or physical, what initiatives does the National Education offer for its development? And how will this affect English lessons?
Françoise Parillot (Inspector General for Education, Sports and Research) and Isabelle Legy (also Desk Officer for the Modern Language Plan) will answer these questions with numerous presentations and feedback.
11:00 – 12:00 : Session reserved for English teachers: Teaching in mixed ability classrooms
In many situations, especially in the early years of secondary school, teachers are faced with a group of very different students, from different backgrounds and with very different English language levels and abilities. This leads to a number of practical questions in the classroom: meeting the needs of students at different levels; problems of class management and discipline; lack of motivation; and more.
In this talk, Penny Ur will propose and discuss a set of practical learning principles illustrated with classroom procedures that require very little (or no) additional training to address these issues.

With so many educational resources available for learning English online, George Wilson of the British Council in Paris will introduce you to the most reliable ones and help you choose the most suitable ones. This will promote open access resources for different ages and different levels.
