After several years of hiatus, the African University for Youth and Development (AUYD) will resume its activities in November, reviving the activity of the North-South Center in the field of African-European youth cooperation.
In 2007, CNS co-organized the first African-European youth summit in Lisbon. After this important step, the “Africa-Europe cooperation program for youth” (a program framework supported by both the European Union and the African Union) has enabled a wide range of activities, including the exchange of good practices, until 2015. and policy development processes under the Joint Africa-EU Strategy (JAES).

The 2022 edition of AUYD aims to contribute to the creation of a new transparent, stable and inclusive Euro-African youth platform by offering youth organizations the opportunity to connect through a cross-sectoral approach to youth policies. The event responds to the needs expressed by many young actors to have more dynamic and flexible spaces that allow the identification of common priorities, the sharing of new experiences, the convergence of common political orientations and the promotion of greater coordination among all participants. in the field of youth in Europe and Africa.
The 2022 African University for Youth and Development will be held from 22-26 November 2022 in Mindelo, Cape Verde.
Like other “Summer Universities” organized by CNS, AUYD 2022 is a partnership-based event that brings together hundreds of youth, youth workers, field experts and decision-makers, offering them a space to meet, discuss and build capacity. and cooperate on youth policy issues.

Youth organizations and any other youth-related organizations (Europe, Africa and the Middle East) are invited to organize activities under JAU 2022.
The week’s schedule allows organizations to carry out their activities (trainings, workshops, board meetings, etc.) while also providing enough time for everyone to participate in the plenary sessions (general schedule) that will explore the annual theme: “Effective, Accountable and Accountable Organization ” Inclusive institutions as one of the three dimensions of SDG 16.
Given the special occasion of the AUYD’s relaunch, special plenary sessions will be devoted to cooperation between Africa and Europe in the field of youth, follow-up and reflection on the Abidjan Youth Declaration of the 4th Africa-Europe Youth Summit. On the EU Action Plan for Youth in External Action and key outcomes of the youth component of the 2022 Africa-Europe Week. The AUYD 2022 joint program will also explore the interaction between the Youth, Peace and Security (YPS) Agenda and SDG16, linking the peacebuilding efforts of youth civil society with actions taken by governments and international institutions to ensure the protection of human rights.
