Excitement for the start of the new academic year will be in full swing as the three campuses welcome nearly 9,000 new students.
Back to School Days, which are essential to get your university career off to a good start or continue, will take place on 30th, 31st and 1st August.er September at the Main Campus Cultural Center as well as August 30, September 6 and 10 at the Longueuil Campus. Campus de la santé students received a visit from the Registrar’s Office, as well as the Federation of Students of the University of Sherbrooke (FEUS) and the Association of Masters, Diploma and Doctorate Students, to prepare their student card. Distribution of the student agenda at the University of Sherbrooke (REMDUS) on August 24. They are also invited to participate in events planned on the Main Campus.
Around 70 booths will be part of the back-to-school circuit at the Cultural Center this week. Many student groups will attend to recruit members or simply provide an overview of the dynamic student life at UdeS. Indeed, about 100 associations and groups operate every year. People with a passion for science, board games, theater, the environment, or anything where student involvement is important will be delighted.
University life to explore
In addition to the services offered at UdeS, several organizations from the region will also be there, including TransEstrie and Work-Study Balance. A “health and well-being” section has been created to present all the resources of UdeS. Members of the Student Life Support Network and Double-Mission will be on hand to welcome and inform new students. Among the new functions, we find in particular the ambassador team for the management of residual materials, which was created in 2021 and whose aim is to raise awareness of good sorting practices in the community.
Market and accommodation
From August 30 to 1, the traditional “Back to School Market” will be operating again in the Cultural Center.er September. Thanks to the generosity of the university community, all kinds of items such as small appliances and winter clothing are available free of charge. This eco-responsible measure is welcome for first-time apartment movers.
In addition, a designated reception for homeless students has been organized in the Student Life Pavilion (E1-1023) since August 26. Until September 9 a housing search support will be offered Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The busy month of September
Outside of Back-to-School Days, activities and performances will enliven campuses at the start of the fall semester.
On Friday, September 2, the Agora on Main Campus will host an arts, science and awareness event for the University community and the general public on the effects of light pollution. In a Milky Way near you will offer a program combining science popularization activities and cultural shows.
On Tuesday, September 6, international students will be greeted in person at the Main Campus Cultural Center. Tonight will celebrate the return of the famous poutine that has been so popular over the years. For the first time, there will also be a private reception in a happy hour format in Longueuil on Wednesday, September 28.
The unmissable Back to School Show presented by FEUS and REMDUS at Main Campus will take place on Wednesday September 7 and mark the end of back to school events.
