The solution fell. Three weeks after he learned of his expulsion from the Joliot-Curie high school in Nanterre (Hauts de Seine) for unclear reasons Kai Terada was convened on Thursday 22 September 2022 at the Academy of Versailles. The latter issued an order indicating that the teacher of mathematics is ” transferred to the servicefrom September 26, 2022 at the Jean-Baptiste Poquelin high school in Saint-Germain-en-Laye “in Yvelines.

“To allow the establishment to return to the smooth functioning of the institution”

This decree states that “the Joliot-Curie Higher School is experiencing an alarming situation both with regard to the working climate in the educational community and with regard to the proper functioning and continuity of the public education service. (…) The stance taken by the minority (…) contributes to the deterioration of working relations within the teaching group (…), in particular, by vehemently and repeatedly questioning the instructions, as well as the framework defined by the “institution”.

Several teachers would tell the administration “about the suffering at work and even the fear of coming to work.” That’s why academic services have made “several transfers for the benefit of the service,” including Kai Terada’s.

The name of Mr. Kai Terada regularly resurfaces as an active participant outside the bodies of social dialogue of the institutions, as well as the usual exercise of trade union activity in the deteriorating climate in the educational community.

Decree of the Academy of Versailles

The Academy insists that his “behavior and his remarks (…) are not a fault that can justify the opening of disciplinary proceedings.” However, “its transfer in the interest of the service appears to be necessary to allow the institution to return to undisturbed functioning.”

National strike notice filed

The decision does not work for the teaching staff, who denounce the “illegal” translation and are still convinced that it is about “trade union repression”. Kai Terada is an ardent trade unionist and co-secretary of the Sud Education department in the Hauts-de-Seine. He participated in many local and national events.

Although Kai Terada’s colleagues supported the strike movement for three weeks and stepped up support actions, they were not successful. This Friday, September 23, from 7:45 am, they lined up a “human queue” in front of Nanterre town hallwhich faces the Joliot-Curie high school.

This Friday, the movement in support of teachers is activated, which has already taken on a national scale. Several teachers from Île-de-France joined the rally in front of the Joliot-Curie high school this Friday morning. Nationwide strike notices were also filed.

This is especially true of the Voltaire High School in Paris, which calls for “opposing the anti-union repression directed against Kai Terada and, besides him, all those who fight against the deterioration of our working conditions, the conditions of study of students and for a true public service of education.”

In Seine-et-Marne, the Balzac high school, which has already mobilized over the past three weeks, also “reaffirms” its support this Friday.

Support for elected officials of Île-de-France

Elected officials of Île-de-France also expressed their outrage, such asAurélie found, MP Saint-Denis, who tweets: “Supporting #KaiTerada, math teacher in Nanterre (92), transferred to another department without explanation… But the reason for this is well known: union repression. »

Concerning Maxim Leisnideputy of the Seine and Marne, he condemns on twitter “scandalous decision (…). Obviously, this is about breaking any attempt at collective resistance, but even more about respect for the rule of law! and challenges the Minister of National Education, Pap Ndiaye.

A rally is planned in the prefecture

The rally is scheduled for 15:30 in front of the Prefecture of Nanterre. There will be a meeting with the Departmental Services for National Education (DSDEN) Hauts-de-Seine.
