In NPEC’s state-of-the-art phenotyping greenhouse, VYPR DUO 3×2 lamps are used to support studies on genotype-phenotype associations.
The official opening of NPEC will take place on the eve of the week-long International Plant Phenotyping Symposium 2022 (IPPS 2022) in Wageningen, the Netherlands, from 26 to 30 September 2022. Fluence, the preferred sponsor of IPPS 2022, will attend the symposium and the opening of NPEC in Wageningen.
NPEC brings together six modules spread across two university campuses, each offering specific phenotyping platforms with their own measurement systems. The specialized greenhouse at the WUR campus consists of five air-conditioned units equipped with VYPR DUO 3×2 lamps from Fluence. 3D and hyperspectral imaging, conveyor systems and various compartment sensors produce high-precision measurements, including the size, color and placement of plant leaves, which can be analyzed to understand the genetic response of plants to various conditions and treatments, such as heat, drought. or increased soil salinization.

In addition to Fluence’s state-of-the-art VYPR facilities featuring white-spectrum PhysioSpec™️ BROAD R4, NPEC researchers will use the Maxi-MARVIN imager, a broadband 3D modeling system developed by WUR, to assist with the study. which can reconstruct the architecture of a plant in milliseconds. Other high-tech research facilities at WUR include a dark and light adaptation chamber, as well as imaging systems capable of analyzing the photosynthetic efficiency of plants.
