This is another femicide, another unfortunate one that has been in the news for the past few hours in the Charleroi area. Delphine Coulsard, a history teacher at the Collège Sacre-Coeur high school in Charleroi, was shot dead Monday evening at her home in Mont-sur-Marchien by her ex. The perpetrator, Carl Manzanares, also a member of the school’s sports teaching team, later killed himself… Delphine’s new companion was also fatally shot.

A difficult breakup
That Monday night, Carl made the terrible decision to take the firearm he owned and go to his ex-girlfriend’s home. The couple had just separated in August at Delphine’s request. A medical examiner and ballistics examination have been appointed.

Given the strong emotion, we have to allow time for things to pass. For the moment, this only applies to the high school. For the primary schools, in theory, we are moving towards continuity of education. Now, if some teachers knew the colleagues and are affected by death, we will advise them.
