Measures of purchasing power
To specifically help students cope with the effects of inflation, the government has decided to introduce several measures applicable from the start of the 2022 academic year, in particular:
- The 4% revaluation of scholarships according to social criteria.
- The support of food for €1 for uncertain students.
- on freezing registration fees on campus and for rent in Crous residences.
- Students will also be able to benefit, under certain conditions, from exceptional back-to-school grant of €100.

Financial aid for training
Various grants may be made available to you to enable you to meet the costs of studying and living at school.
The exclusive bonus for the beginning of the academic year 2022
As part of a series of measures voted into the Purchasing Power Parity Emergency Measures and Finance Law Amendment Act 2022, it was decided that a An exclusive back-to-school bonus will be paid on September 15, 2022 to the following people:
- Those that concern social minimums (for example: RSA, AAH, Aspa…), housing allowance and for scholarship holders : this bonus will be €100 per household (+ €50 per child).
- These, who are above the social minimums and who receive an activity bonus : an additional extraordinary payment is planned for the beginning of the academic year in addition to the 4% increase in the activity bonus already made on 1er July.
If you qualify for this exclusive bonus, payment will be made automatically from the organization on which your social minimums depend (e.g. Family Allowance Fund or Pôle Emploi).
To know
This bonus is exclusive and different from the Back to School Allowance (ARS) – see below – which is paid in August. If you are eligible, therefore you can collect the exclusive bonus even if you have already received Ars.
Back to School Assistance (Ars)
Available for all levels of education, Back to School Allowance (Ars) is a grant paid by CAF or MSA. This financial assistance allows families with at least one school-age child 6 to 18 years (for the start of the 2022 school year, the child must have been born between September 16, 2004 and December 31, 2016), to finance part of the costs associated with the start of the school year, such as the purchase of school supplies.
It’s Ars depends on resource cap varies depending on the number of dependent children. For the beginning of the 2022 school year, these are your resources for 2020 which are for reference:

* Note that if your resources slightly exceed the caps, you may be paid a differentiated back-to-school allowance. It is also calculated based on your income.

The size of Ars depends on the age of the child and is for back to school 2022 on :
- 376.98 euros (for a child aged 6-10, born from 01.01.2012 to 31.12.2016)
- 397.78 euros (for a child aged 11-14, born from 01.01.2008 to 31.12.2011)
- 411.56 euros (for a child aged 15-18, born from 16.09.2004 to 31.12.2007).

To know
- As a reminder, Ars is paid at the end of August before the start of the school year, once
- If you are not a CAF recipient you must first create your personal space on the Caf website. Then, to apply for this benefit, you need to download a form in the Aids and Procedures > My Procedures > Children tab, print it and return it completed to your Caf to declare your situation.
- If you are already a beneficiary :
- Your children are aged 6 to 15 on 31 December after the start of the school year: you don’t need to do anything.
- Your child under the age of 6 is enrolled in CP: you must send Caf their school certificate sent by your child’s establishment.
- Your children aged 16 to 18 are at school or studying: you must declare that your child is still at school or studying for the start of the 2022 school year in the My Account area or from the Caf – My Account mobile application.

Target support systems
Part of the aid is distributed according to the level of education: primary, secondary or high school. This can be financial assistance at the national level (scholarships from colleges or high schools, bonuses, etc.) or local (within the region or department).

Back to school 2022: emergency measures for student purchasing power
To specifically help students cope with the effects of inflation, the government has decided to introduce several measures applicable from the start of the 2022 academic year, in particular:
- The 4% revaluation of scholarships according to social criteria (all scholarship levels affected).
- The support of food for €1 for insecure students throughout the academic year 2022-2023 (and social pricing of €3.30 for all other students).
- on freezing registration fees on campus and for rent in Crous residences.
- Students will be able to benefit, under certain conditions, from exceptional back-to-school grant of €100 (see previous point). To be eligible for this aid, the student must be:
- Social Criteria Fellow or Crous Annual Grant recipient
- a recipient of APL (Personalised Housing Allowance) and no longer lives with his parents.

Assistance with registration for sports activities
Are you a parent of a child or student and want to enroll them in sports for the 2022-2023 season?
Know that you may benefit from Sports pass ! This is an allowance of €50 (of an eligible child/young adult) to fund all or part of a child/student’s registration in an eligible sports facility.

As part of family-related tax relief, you can claim, under certain conditions, a reduction in income tax if your child attends college, high school or pursues higher education.

Tax credit for hiring a home employee
If you plan tohire a home tutor to help your children, know that you can take advantage of a tax credit for your education costs.
The amount of the tax relief is equal to 50% of the expenses incurred within the limit of 12,000 euros, possibly increased. Note that online tutoring courses are not eligible for the scheme.

Are you a parent of a student child?
Note that a student over the age of 18 who is pursuing higher education to prepare a French higher education diploma (university, business school, engineering school, BTS high school, etc.) can benefit – under conditions – student loan guaranteed by the state. Usually this loan should be requested between May and August in anticipation of the return to school and university.
