Between three doors and a country manThe Aceman is an electric mini crossover

From 2024, the Aceman is set to fill the gap between the smaller three-door model and the growing model – with a purely electric motor.

Something finally happened in the Mini. After the BMW subsidiary had to keep its head above water for several years with bad model updates, a big generation change is about to happen. And because the British also dare to usher in the age of electricity, this time is particularly grandiose: as they continue to build combustion engines at Oxford, a new electric platform for a second model range almost complementing China is coming from cooperation. with Great Wall. And since the next three doors, promised for 2023, will be a little smaller again, and Countryman on the other hand should increase exponentially, there’s a gap between them – which Minnie wants to fill with Aceman.

Angular and sharper

Being a small crossover, designed specifically for cars like the new Smart and probably won’t be available in stores until 2024 at the earliest, the fill-in-the-blank system should also anticipate the design language of the new models. Although the Mini operates without the old kitsch, the Aceman is still instantly recognizable as the Mini with its slightly square shapes, sharper edges, and (almost) no traditional googly eyes.

Compact size: thanks to the electric motor, the Mini Aceman should surprise with a large amount of space.

At 4.05 meters long, the Aceman is about 25 cm shorter than the current Countryman, but at least it offers plenty of room inside. It owes its skateboard platform a long wheelbase, small motors and a battery in the floor in between, which are now standard on electric vehicles. The new look and feel accompanies a new cockpit that has been physically scaled down, but has more to offer digitally. The entire dashboard becomes a display surface for animation and information – at least that’s the case in the Study. In keeping with the zeitgeist, instead of leather, there’s sustainable wool and recycled fabrics with colorful prints.

In the meantime, customers can continue to hope for the classic kart feel, because of course the British want to salvage that in the new era. The Aceman should be just as available as the Cooper E three-door with 136 kW (185 hp) and 40 kWh battery for a standard range of about 300 km or the Cooper SE with 165 kW (225 hp) and 50 kWh battery, which can be That goes up to 400 km. However, all this should not be cheap: the new Aceman will not be available for less than 45,000 francs.
